Nas and Kelis Divorce CONFIRMED!

According to VIBE MAGAZINE:

One of hip hop’s most talked about married couples have split. VIBE has confirmed that Nas and Kelis are headed for a divorce. “I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” a spokesperson for Kelis told VIBE. “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.” At around 3:45pm PST, high-powered attorney Laura Wasser (who has also represented Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, and Stevie Wonder) filed a divorce petition today on behalf of Kelis, citing irreconciable differences. The bombshell comes amid recent reports that the acclaimed rhymer and influential R&B vixen were expecting their first child together—a son. Kelis is currently seven months pregnant. It was only last February when Nas spoke excitedly to MTV about the prospect of having a baby with Kelis. “Yeah, man, I find out what it's gonna be next week, so I'm happy," said the multiplatinum rapper, who also has a 15-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. Nas and Kelis first met in 2002 at a MTV Video Music Awards afterparty thrown by hip hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. “I wasn’t going to go, but I’m glad I did,” Nas told VIBE in June 2003. “Then at the afterparty, I met my girl.” Kelis remembered the meeting with her future husband vividly: “Everyone moves out of the way, and Nas stands up, and I put my hand out, and I’m like, Hey, I’m Kelis. And he goes, ‘Who?’… So I’m crawling into a fucking hole, and he’s like, ‘Wait-huh? What’s your name? And I’m like, Kelis, and he’s like, ‘Oh, well that’s great, because I’ve been waiting to make you my wife all these years.’” When Nas told her of his bold marital plans, she replied in typical Kelis form. “That’s great, because that’s all I wanna be.” After dating for two years, the pair married in a small ceremony in Atlanta on July 28, 2003. Their relationship even sparked artistic collaborations, with Nas appearing on Kelis’ sensual single "In Public," featured on her 2003 release Tasty (Star Trak/Arista). Kelis returned the favor on the Queensbridge, N.Y., MC’s controversial 2006 work Hip Hop Is Dead (Def Jam) on “Not Going Back.” Yet, since March of 2008, rumors of the couple separating have been circulating on the Web. Nas’ spokesperson could not be reached for comment.

I wholeheartedly disagree with this painting, and I am glad he will not be showing it-although we have all seen it now. What do you think? Is this art or sacrilegious?

I thought that things couldn't get any more hilarious, but Ray J did film a reunion for his hit VH1 Reality show. Not only was that show a hot mess, but did you get a look at Unique's hair? I hate to admit it but I agreed with Danger when she said, "I'm a big fan of yours, weren't you in the wiz?!" I was laughing so hard...but she did kinda look like the Cowardly Lion didn't she?

The U.S. declared the health emergency so it could ship roughly 12 million doses of flu-fighting medications from a federal stockpile to states in case they eventually need them — although, with 20 confirmed cases in five states recovering easily, they don’t appear to for now.Eight high school students from St. Francis Preparatory School in New York are among those who fell ill in five states, including New York, Ohio, California, Texas and Kansas. Patients have ranged in age from 7 to 54.
“We expect there to be a broader spectrum of disease here in the U.S.,” said Dr. Anne Schuchat, interim deputy director for the agency’s Science and Public Health Program. “I do fear that we will have deaths here.”

Does anybody watch "The Hills" on MTV? Right. Two of the shows stars, the weirdness that is Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag have officially tied the knot yesterday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, CA. After all the fake drama surrounding these two in real life and on TV, I am not one to down anyone's happiness especially something as serious as marriage. I just hope this union is real and not another case of nuptuals gone wrong! They are seriously some characters, but I guess Congratulations are in order.

Beyonce's Acting Career: To Be, Or Not To Be?

Unless you've been under a rock somewhere, you know that Beyonce along with Idris Elba and Ali Larter had a movie "Obsessed" come out this weekend. It will definitely be in the top 5 movies of the weekend, but how do you feel about Beyonce' as an actress?

She is great as a singer/performer. In my opinion, she just needs to go back to the drawing board where her acting is concerned. I do think she did a good job in this film [especially the fight scenes], but I can't help but wonder how much better it would have been with a stronger more seasoned actress. What do you think? A Golden Girl's Final Sunset: R.I.P. Bea Arthur

I don't know one girl of college age or older that does not enjoy an episode of the Golden Girls on Lifetime from time to time! As a matter of fact in college, some of my friends planned their classes by it. It was very sad to learn that Bea Arthur[Dorothy] passed away yesterday. It's been said that she was battling cancer, but there has been no official cause of death released. She was 86 years old. R.I.P. 1922-2009

TMZ, best known for putting celebs on blast has uncovered the prenuptual agreement between Tyrese and his estranged wife Norma. Basically, she gets nathan! According to the documents, she has no part of any of Tyrese's possesions. That includes his his home, production company, music, cars or anything else. What she is entitled to is $50,000 for every year they were married. That pretty much sucks for her because they were only married 10 months. The prenup also says that if either party files for separation or divorce that Norma must move out within 60 days or Tyrese can have that a$$ thrown out. Ladies, love is great, but please always have a back-up plan, or you will walk away with the boo boo face just like Norma.

Laser surgery is very painful and Pharell has tatoos all over both arms, his neck, back and torso. Atleast he took it like a man! That should teach some folks to THINK before tattooing everything. So apparently Trey Songz is trying to get at "Cheetah Girl" Adrienne Bailon via Twitter...According to internet sources Trey has been sending her public messages saying how beautiful he thinks she is, and then continuing with private messages too. That may be an issue for Rob Kardashian who is currently engaged to Bailon. Trey is hot, but will she risk her relationship to get with him? I don't think so- atleast not if the Kardashian sisters have anything to say about it!

Now didn't we say somebody was just hatin' on Bey?! Well we were right. Just yesterday we reported that a recording had surfaced with beyonce` singing and no effects on her voice. The tape first surfaced on Howard Stern's radio show. According to people.com, when Beyonce` heard about the awful recording she just shrugged it off. "It has since been dismissed as a complete prank" said Matt Lauer to Knowles on the "Today Show" this morning. Beyonce goes on to say she hasn't even heard this recording, but she did hear it was "over the top". LOL

According to the Associated Press, The Stockholm Jazz Festival held in Sweden has announced that Lauryn Hill will be the headliner for the 2009 concert in July. This is the 26th anniversary of the Stockholm Jazz Festival and it is expected to attract more than 30,000 people. I am excited that Lauryn Hill is still performing. I can't wait for her to come back hard for female R&B. The game needs you Lauryn!

Kim Kardashian and Forever 21 are advertising together, but it's not quite what Kim thought it would be. Forever 21 is now showing love to it's "plus size" fans with the launch of "Faith 21". The "Faith 21" will carry sizes ranging from XL to 2XL. Needless to say, Kim who is gearing up to release her first fitness DVD is a tad bit mortified that her face is being used for the full figured campaign. Kim recently responded from her own blog saying:

"I am a huge fan of Forever 21 and I'm very happy they have expanded their line to include a plus-size range, but I am not in that size category and this article makes it sound like I am! I am a curvy girl and I love my curves, but curvy and plus-sized are two very different things. I work really hard to maintain my curves while staying slim and healthy, so to be classed as a "fuller-figured woman" of extra large proportions is a little offensive".

It's true that Jennifer Hudson is an amazing talent that has been through a lot this past year. While she is currently on tour with Robin Thicke, her reviews are great and she may have more big news for us on the way. According to Essence magazine, Sources close to the multi award winning actress and singer are saying that Jennifer Hudson is indeed pregnant. Of course her manager and publicist are strongly denying these "rumors", but that is what they are paid to do, right? I guess we will see soon enough! Jennifer and Robin Thicke will be bringing their show to the Detroit Opera House on April 24th so I'll let you all know what I think about that next week :)

For anybody who missed it last night, Ray J finally chose who was here for him and that choice was "COCKTAIL" better known to the government as Joanna Hernandez. Despite hitting it off with UNIQUE's family, Ray J said he really felt like he could be himself around COCKTAIL and that he didn't have to change or put on a front with her. Personally, I think young Ray chose the girl he would really not have to take that seriously. He's young and just wants to have fun. I didn't here or see anything about a reunion but that would be interesting to see. I wonder if they called it off because of Danger's crazy a$$!

Stalk On By...

On Wednesday Tyler Perry's alleged stalker, Dawne Wilson, was caught outside of Perry's Atlanta studio. Apparently this isn't the first time she's showed up...without invitation. According to Perry, she's been making these ever so lovely surprise visits for about a year or so. The situation--I'm sorry, Ms. Wilson, became so bothersome and obssesive that Perry eventually got a restraining order against her that banned her from coming near his home, business, and Perry himself. So I'm pretty much 100% sure that she wasn't supposed to be chillin' outside of Perry's studio. Wilson is being held in custody without bond, and is expected in court on April 30th. She is being charged with aggravated stalking.

Flo Rida: Rap or Pop?

Some friends and I recently had a debate on whether or not Flo Rida could be considered as a real hip hop artist. When you hear a Flo Rida song come on the air, it's usually being played on the pop stations right?
Flo Rida, better known to the government as Tramar Dillard had a break away hit with "LOW" which received heavy airplay on the Urban as well as Pop stations. My question to my friend was "What makes a Rapper "real"? What classifies a rap artist these days? Weezy is venturing off into the rock world and even rap stars such as Jay Z and Kanye West have collaborated with Cold Play and Lincoln Park.
In my opinion, rap has been lost in pop culture, but honestly that's what is moving records out of the stores. My friend feels that Flo Rida could be classified with any other rapper simply because he's talking to a beat. I think Flo Rida is commercially successful because he crosses all lines. We hear many rappers on the pop stations now, but Flo Rida sticks out because it seems as though he creates his music completely for the pop audience.
After much thought I just have to ask; Is rap still a real genre? What does it mean to you?

Hudson vs. Holiday: Who Can Scream The Loudest?!

First off, you gotta give honor where honor is due. Jennifer Holiday is the original DIVA of this song and can sing the melody right out of it. Jennifer Hudson surprised her Atlanta audience at her and Robin Thicke's show last night by bringing out the lovely Ms. Holiday. Of course they kinda did a duet to her famous song "And I Am Telling You"(I'm Not Going). Is it just me or is it that when these two get together it almost sounds like a contest? Is J Hud just trying to keep up with the powerhouse voice that is Jennifer Holiday? You be the judge.

Nate Dogg Not Stalkin' No Mo'

The charges against Nate Dogg, who was accused of stalking and threatening his estranged wife have been dropped. The Associated Press is reporting that Prosecutors dropped the charges because the alleged victim had not contacted them. Nate Dogg better known to the government as Nathaniel Hale pleaded not guilty last summer to these charges that also included driving on a suspended license from a prior DUI conviction.
